Character Name: Robert "Mecha Man" Robertson III
Character Canon: Dispatch
Canon Point: End of Episode 3 "TURNOVER"
Age: 33

Crime:
Vigilantism - Robert has spent the last 15 years as Mecha Man, a superhero who uses a mechsuit to grant himself super strength, durability, endurance, and a variety of weapons and projectiles. It means he's been taking the law into his own hands, much like other superheroes. While it isn't seen that way currently where he's come from, out of context it could been seen as vigilantism, including violence and assault given the fights he's gotten into, even if it was for, in his opinion, the greater good.

Background: here

Personality:
↪ Resilient loner
A superhero life can be a lonely one and Robert knows this well. For 15 years he has carried the mantle of Mecha Man, a title passed down from his father and grandfather before him. As the third Robert Robertson and third Mecha Man, his life, and the connections within it, has never been normal.

The relationship he had with his father was complicated, partially due to his father's stern parenting style. We know he was tough on Robert and an example of this is when, aged 8, Robert was tinkering with his father's Mecha Man armor at a family barbecue. The armor engaged defensive mode, aiming at Robert. He was saved by Chase, a friend and super-speedy superhero colleague of his father's, but not before losing a chunk of his ear to a bullet. His father's response was to tell Robert to "get up", forcing him to pick himself up and dust himself off again. Robert certainly comes across as resilient but also as emotionally distant in ways.

After his father’s death, Robert inherited the mask and the burden of legacy, retreating into anonymity and tradition. Though the loss hit him hard, he chose to grieve alone, even cutting himself off from Chase. His beloved dog, Beef, becomes the strongest bond that he has and, likely, what keeps him together through years of isolation and single-minded dedication to continuing to serve the public as Mecha Man.

↪ Razor-dry
Whether the isolation from personal relationships has been partially responsible for shaping him into a man who employs sardonicism as an almost always first port of call, Robert relies on it often. Having spent almost half his life fighting against supervillains, perhaps it makes some sense that he can be deeply cynical and this cynicism rears its head often presented in incredibly dry humor.

A shield and a self-defence mechanism, nobody can really hit too close to home if he's already taken a shot at himself or his circumstances already. We hear him constantly making sardonic and sarcastic remarks to Z-Team especially when they're being little shits at him. He's quick-witted, teasing others at times and not often completely wrong-footed by somebody else mercilessly teasing him, see: Flambae making up new lyrics to Meredith Brooks' song "Bitch". Robert's deadeyes are a classic response.

↪ Dedicated
He's been Mecha Man for 15 years, meaning he picked up the responsibility from his father when he was around 18-years old after his father was killed. Having been so young at the time, Robert likely assumed he'd have more time before taking on the role himself, but his dedication to being Mecha Man hasn't wavered, the only thing putting him out of commission is the armor being so broken at the moment he isn't able to fix it himself. He mentions that he's spent all his inheritance (millions) on maintaining the Mecha armor, and that he's essentially broke now because of it.

He also shows he's dedicated to the Z-Team as well, committing to them and to helping elevate them to where they need to be in order to graduate the Phoenix program (a program for former supervillains wanting to be superheroes). Blonde Blazer even tells Robert that SDN helping to fix his mech suit isn't conditional on his success with the Z-Team, making it clear that he really is dedicated to the team and not just getting his mech armor repaired.

↪ Selfless and brave
He has put his entire life into being Mecha Man and there isn't anything much more selfless than that. Surrendering his own life to serve the public as a superhero, despite not having any superpowers himself. He eventually takes a job as a dispatcher at the Superhero Dispatch Network (SDN) after coming to an agreement that if he worked for them, they would fix the Mecha armor for him, enabling him to get back to superhero work.

He also chooses not to kill Shroud at the final confrontation having told Chase previously that he wasn't sure if he'd kill the man who killed his father. Ultimately he decides that heroes don't kill people.

↪ Firm but fair guardian
Robert tells Blonde Blazer that he knows the Z-Team need a different kind of approach to a traditional superhero team. He tells her that they need tough love, something that he knows a fair amount about from his father. He is firm but fair with Z-Team, trying his best to navigate who they are and who they want to be.

Robert can be protective of people he cares about. A good example of this is how he takes Waterboy under his wing, looking out for him and mentoring him, trying to help him develop his confidence.

He is also more than willing to give people a fair shot, no matter where they might have come from or what their past might have been, something he tells Blonde Blazer when they talk about Invisigal potentially being cut from the team. This also shows in the fact he's willing to work with a team of former supervillains, one of which (Flambae) he's even fought against in the past.

Abilities:
Hacker: has shown skills in hijacking systems and being able to disable things like sensors to help the team on call-outs. Additionally, he can hack into CCTVs and bypass the security systems (not like the Pentagon but standard security systems without enhanced protection)

Tactician: tactician and leader, proven when he leads Z-Team and fully gains their trust. The team's shifts are more often than not successful thanks to his leadership

Engineer: has enough technical knowledge to repair his own Mecha Man armor up to a certain point

Skilled Combatant: skilled hand-to-hand combatant able to take on several opponents at once including going toe-to-toe with supervillains

Pain Resistance: shown to have extraordinarily high pain tolerance, shrugging off dislocated limbs and broken bones with stoic ease

Questions: Will there be the possibility to gain items from home in future? If so would a pet fall into an acceptable item or not so much?
